Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra guest conductor ZHU Qi-Yuan.
Born in Shanghai, educated in the United States, in Chengdu to develop a career. Zhu has a “Chengdu” type of freedom, a quietness rarely seen in modern society or “slow.” “Slow” but determined, poetic and wise. No wonder he can use nine years to build the Symphony Orchestra of SCCM (Sichuan) offering a new model of professional orchestra, making this concert series become Western China’s first professional symphony and opera season, and premiering a large number of outstanding 20th Century works.
— YI Lian, Music Critic
ZHU Qi-Yuan is an excellent conductor. He possesses great technique, responsiveness, and rich musicality. Most importantly, he creates an ideal “esprit de corps” with his gestures and facial expressions.
— JING Zuoren, Music Critic
